 This week is the final week of working on our projects in class, I have majority of my project done; feature article, images, and my content page. Today in class I had Lexi and Jennifer peer review my feature article and made sure I was not leaving anything else out on any other pages. Mostly everything looked good to them besides a few spelling and grammar errors. Another thing was the amount of different text styles I was using it was just too distracting so I changed them to all match besides the title of the feature article and the cover page text font. After they reviewed my magazine and gave me feedback I corrected the errors and had them review it one more time just to make sure I wasn’t missing anything else.

 Today I went into InDesign to upload all mu images to the feature article page as well as my cover page. It was confusing at first because I am not very familiar with InDesign still but I got help from a peer in class that was finished with their uploading already. I had to figure out where I wanted everything placed on the pages and around the feature article. However, I had too many pictures and couldn’t upload all of them as it took away from the feature article and was mainly kore of a page of pictures. I decided that at most three images on the feature article page was enough. 

 This week I wanted to get the main outline for the magazine done. Since I finished conducting my interviews for the feature article I decided to write my article up and import it to InDesign. It was hard to write the feature article as I did not want to make the audience bored when reading but I did not want to leave out important information. After I got some help from my partner it was clear to me what needed to be included in the article and what I should leave out. After I finished I uploaded it to InDesign.

  This week I scheduled to take the cover page image however it was raining the day I had set up for everyone to come. After talking with everyone to get this photoshoot rescheduled; we did it Wednesday after school. It was very hard to get everyone to corporate but I got it done. There was a lot to take into consideration when taking this photo for the cover page as I need everyone in a certain spot, with good lighting.

Today during my lunch period, I went ahead and got my interviews done for the feature article. I interviewed Terrell Pack; former football and basketball player, class of 2021. I also interviewed Shane Ahles, he is a teacher at the school, assistant athletic director, and a JV baseball coach. I wanted to understand what it was like playing sports throughout this tough time. I asked Terrell Pack what the hardest part was and he said it was practicing outside with mask on for football. I then wanted to see what it was like from an outsider’s perspective; Shane is very involved with the school so it was nice to see what he had to say. For Shane the hard part was people not keeping their mask on at sporting events; he was only doing his job by telling them to put it on as well as he has to look out for everyone’s safety.

        After planning out where I am taking the photos for my magazine cover as well as who I am using for the photos; I have begun to reach out and find a day that allows everyone to be there for the cover photograph. I have picked days that I know other sports are having practices that will allow me to come in and capture pictures to use throughout my feature article. Next week I will be going to baseball workouts, the soccer game, and the basketball game. As this is not every sport; it is just enough to show the effect of the pandemic on these sports and how they participate in the sporting activity while still being cautious of the safety of others. On January 21 st I will be meeting one person from each sport, with their uniforms and mask on as well as the assistant principals at the front of the steps of school to capture my photo for my cover page.

       This week I spent time brainstorming how I’m going to take my cover photo as well as the photos used on the feature article page. I have reached out to the principle, four assistant principals, and eight of the people I have selected from each sport to be involved in the cover photo. The photo for the cover of the magazine will be taken on the front steps of the high school. Those participating in the photograph will be a spread out staggered on the steps. The athletes will be wearing there uniform along with a mask to represent that it is sports during a global pandemic as that is the feature article of the magazine. I’m trying to work with everyone to find a day that works best for everyone to be there for the photo. For the pictures on the feature articles I will add in photographs from sports that are going on right now; with pictures of them either preforming their sport with mask on or even working out.
